Cambridge IGCSE English Language is the international equivalent of GCSE English Language. It is equally recognised by UK and international universities and follows a rigorous Cambridge curriculum.
Assessment is through two written papers: Paper 1 (Reading) tests comprehension, summary, and language analysis; Paper 2 (Writing) tests directed, narrative, and descriptive writing skills.
The speaking and listening component is optional. Students who complete it receive a separate endorsement on their certificate. We recommend it as excellent preparation for A-Level and university.
Students read a wide range of texts during the course, including articles, reports, letters, and extracts from fiction and non-fiction. Regular reading builds the comprehension skills needed for the exam.
